Droitwich Spa parkrun
Proposed 5K route, latest updates and how to get ready
A Droitwich Spa parkrun is currently being developed, with plans for a free, weekly 5K event through St Peter’s Fields and Lido Park.
The proposed course is a two-lap route using a mixture of grass, trail and existing tarmac paths, creating a varied 5K course through some of Droitwich Spa’s most familiar green spaces.
There’s still work to be completed before the event can launch, particularly around making the route resilient enough to operate throughout the year, but plans are progressing.
And if the prospect of having a parkrun in Droitwich has made you think about giving 5K a go, there’s no need to wait for the first event.
The parkrun may not have started yet – but you can.
Droitwich Spa parkrun – Latest Project Update
October 2026 | A significant step forward for Droitwich Spa parkrun
There is some encouraging news for everyone following the proposed Droitwich Spa parkrun.
Wychavon District Council has confirmed that the project can proceed with the proposed route through St Peter’s Fields and Lido Park, using the existing paths and grassed areas.
This is an important milestone following considerable work to identify a practical, sustainable course for a free weekly 5 km community event.
The proposed course and park improvements
The proposed course remains a two-lap route through St Peter’s Fields and Lido Park, incorporating a mixture of established paths and grassed sections.
Some additional paths previously proposed for the route, shown in blue and purple on earlier plans, will not be progressed by the Council at this stage.
Instead, an agreed approach will allow the existing grassed areas to be used when conditions permit. These sections will be inspected before every event, with events cancelled whenever conditions are unsafe, excessively waterlogged or likely to cause unacceptable damage to the park.
Although this means the course may not be suitable for every Saturday throughout the year, it provides a practical way forward while protecting the green spaces used by the wider community.
Important improvements have already been completed as part of the preparation work:
The new connecting path through Lido Park, previously marked in orange on the plans, provides an essential link for the proposed course.
The path at the upper end of the park, connecting St Peter’s towards Lyttelton Avenue, has been completely relaid and widened.
These improvements benefit walkers, runners and other park users, regardless of when parkrun begins.
Strong support from the local community
The project has benefited from constructive discussions with Wychavon District Council and its parks team, including Tim Lewis, Head of Client Services, who has helped the organisers reach a workable solution.
The organisers will continue working with the parks team and Droitwich Spa Cricket Club as preparations progress.
Further support has also been received from Nigel Huddleston MP, following a meeting with the project representatives and Cllr Dan Birch, and through a formal letter of support from Corbett Medical Practice.
The project’s community group has now grown to nearly 400 members, reflecting the enthusiasm for bringing parkrun to Droitwich Spa.
What happens next?
The project is now moving into parkrun’s formal activation process.
There is still preparation work to complete, and no launch date has been agreed or approved.
Updates will be shared through the appropriate channels in accordance with parkrun’s communications guidance. Supporters are asked not to speculate publicly about a launch date or promote the proposed event in inaugural parkrun or parkrun tourism groups before an official announcement.
The organisers will also be contacting people who have expressed an interest in volunteering. Initially, a small and dependable core team will be needed to assist with preparation, course setup, trial events and Saturday mornings around the launch period.
Once established, there should also be opportunities for occasional volunteering, without an expectation that everyone attends every week.
PMF Fitness Solutions and running in Droitwich
At PMF Fitness Solutions, we’re delighted to see this progress. Our existing running sessions use St Peter’s Fields and the surrounding area, making the proposed parkrun a particularly welcome addition to Droitwich’s running community.

You don’t need to wait for parkrun to launch to start running!
If you’d like to improve your fitness, build towards a comfortable 5 km or simply enjoy running with a supportive local group, explore our Running Training in Droitwich sessions.
Please note: Droitwich Spa parkrun is a proposed event and has not yet launched. PMF Fitness Solutions is an independent local fitness provider and is not an official organiser or partner of parkrun.
Proposed Droitwich Spa parkrun route
The proposed Droitwich parkrun is a two-lap 5K course through St Peter’s Fields and Lido Park.
The route uses a combination of:
- Grass
- Trail
- Existing tarmac paths
Starting in St Peter’s Fields, the course takes participants through the park and towards the Lido before returning through St Peter’s Fields to complete the two-lap course.
The varied surfaces are one of the reasons that work is being undertaken before the event launches. Recent wet weather has highlighted parts of the fields that can become vulnerable during poorer conditions, so attention is being given to making the route suitable for regular, year-round use.
Please note: The route shown above is the proposed course. The event and final route are still going through the planning process and may change before Droitwich Spa parkrun officially launches.
What is parkrun?
parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5K community event.
You can walk, jog or run the 5K, and people can also get involved by volunteering to help make each event happen.
That means you don’t need to consider yourself a runner – and you certainly don’t need to be able to run an entire 5K before getting involved.
It’s one of the things we’re particularly excited about with the prospect of parkrun coming to Droitwich: it gives people of different abilities a regular local event to work towards and enjoy.
When will Droitwich Spa parkrun start?
At the moment, there is no confirmed launch date for Droitwich Spa parkrun.
The team behind the proposed event has been working closely with Wychavon District Council, with particular attention being paid to making sure the course can operate reliably throughout the year.
Further discussions are continuing around improvements to some of the more vulnerable sections of the proposed course.
There’s also plenty happening behind the scenes. Preparation for establishing the event has included spending time with the Worcester parkrun team to understand more about the operational side of running a weekly parkrun.
We’ll update this page as those plans progress.
Get ready for Droitwich parkrun with PMF
Here’s where the proposed parkrun becomes particularly exciting for us at PMF.
Our weekly Ready to Run sessions already start and finish in the same park.
So while we’re not connected with the organisation of Droitwich Spa parkrun, the proposed event will be taking place on very familiar territory for PMF runners.
Our running sessions are designed to help people progressively develop their running fitness, and we use walk/run training techniques throughout our sessions.
You don’t need to turn up already capable of running 5K.
Whether you’d like to:
- walk/run your first parkrun;
- build towards running the whole 5K;
- become more comfortable running outdoors;
- improve your existing 5K fitness; or
- simply find some friendly people to run with,
you can start building towards that goal with us now.
Earlier this year, we helped runners progress from little or no running experience to completing the Stratford Half Marathon. The same progressive approach works just as well when your first target is 5K.
The parkrun may not have started yet – but you can.
GET READY FOR YOUR 5K
Already a runner?
You don’t have to be new to running to join us.
Ready to Run is also an opportunity to get some regular miles in, run with other local people and explore different sessions and routes around Droitwich.
And with our sessions already starting and finishing in the park, there’s going to be a rather nice crossover when Droitwich Spa eventually gets its own parkrun.
